Recidivism rates in the U.S. are some of the highest in the world. And in Wyoming, 33 percent of inmates are back in prison within the first year. But studies show that animal therapy can help reduce that by teaching things like responsibility, nonviolence and empathy. Wyoming has a special program – one of only five in the country – that teaches inmates how to tame wild horses.

  • 'The Hand That Feeds' is a monument honoring the dedication and sacrifice of Northern Colorado's sugar beet workers. The move to create the piece was led by Betty Aragon-Mitotes, a longtime advocate for Hispanic and Latino communities. The monument was unveiled Oct. 2, 2021 in Fort Collins' Sugar Beet Park.

    The sugar beet industry was integral to the prosperity that Colorado enjoys today - but it was the workers toiling in the beet fields who built that foundation. Today on In The NoCo, we hear about the enduring legacy of the immigrant families who shaped our region.
