With pools of mosquitoes confirmed to be carrying West Nile Virus across Colorado, West Nile season is officially here. If you get infected, though, don’t expect to run to the pharmacy. A pair of local researchers is trying to change that.

After 22 days and 87,284 acres charred, fire managers have announced that the High Park Fire is now fully contained. Mop up operations will continue to deal with hotspots on the edges of the fire.

Besides the horrific destruction of property, the High Park Fire also impacted mail delivery for many living in the fire zone.

Authorities say the Waldo Canyon Fire in Colorado Springs is now the most destructive in state history. It’s burned at least 346 homes so far.  One impact of the huge losses from this year’s Colorado fire season could be felt in the state’s property insurance market.
