Rep. Cantor: Schiller's Resignation Doesn't Change Minds On NPR Funding

This just in from the office of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA), in reaction to the news that NPR President and CEO Vivian Schiller has stepped down:

"Our concern is not about any one person at NPR, rather it's about millions of taxpayers. NPR has admitted that they don't need taxpayer subsidies to thrive, and at a time when the government is borrowing 40 cents of every dollar that it spends, we certainly agree with them."

Shuttle Discovery Lands In Florida, Ending Long Career

Space shuttle Discovery has returned to Earth for the last time, ending the career of the world's most-traveled spaceship. The shuttle landed at Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 11:57 a.m. ET.

On the Florida coast, the end of Discovery's final mission was heralded by a sonic boom as the craft sped toward the runway, prompting cheers from the crowds gathered to watch the launch, according to NASA.

Pilot Eric Boe steered the shuttle through the clouds and into a smooth landing.

Space Shuttle Discovery Lands For Last Time

Space shuttle Discovery ended its 39th and final mission to space Wednesday, touching down at Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla., just before noon local time.

Space shuttle Discovery glided down to Earth for the very last time Wednesday.

Crowds gathered to watch the beloved workhorse of NASA's shuttle fleet roll to a stop on the runway at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

"And Houston, Discovery for the final time, wheel stop," Commander Steve Lindsey reported to Mission Control.

He thanked NASA workers for giving his crew "a perfect vehicle from start to finish on her final flight."
