Jobs Are Up, Sales Are Up — But So Are Gas Prices

Weekly jobless benefit claims fell to their lowest point since May 2008, as economists say that many employers may finally begin hiring for new jobs to meet market demand.

The total number of people claiming benefits in all programs for the week ending Feb 12 was 9,236,041, according to the Department of Labor.

Official: Shootings Suspect Targeted U.S. Military

The man suspected of gunning down two American airmen and wounding two others at Frankfurt's airport reportedly told German authorities he targeted the U.S. military and that he acted alone.

A federal judge in Karlsruhe on Thursday ordered the suspect held in prison on two counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder pending further investigation. A fifth American was apparently targeted but not injured in the attack.

FDA Lowers Boom On Unapproved Cold Medicines

They're oldies but not goodies, the Food and Drug Administration says about more than 500 prescription cough, cold and allergy remedies it is ordering off the market.

The drugs, ranging from Accuhist to Zotex syrup, were never put through the paces of an agency review. So now the regulators say the unapproved drugs can't be sold anymore.
