KUNC: Home of the 1-Day On-Air Membership Drives!
At KUNC, we have changed the way we fundraise. In the last 12 months, we held four 1-Day Drives. Most public radio stations fundraise 15 to 20 days a year, some stations almost 30 days a year, but not KUNC. To our knowledge, no other public radio station fundraises with just four 1-Day drives.
We believe you tune in to KUNC to hear programming not fundraising. 1-Day Drives allow us to provide you with more of the programming you value, whether it is Morning Edition, All Things Considered and Marketplace that keep you informed, Diverse Music that feeds your soul, or Car Talk, Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me and A Prairie Home Companion that make you laugh.
We are planning just four full days of on-air fundraising for KUNC’s fiscal year, which runs from October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010. The drive dates are below. Our budget plan for this year calls for us to raise $593,500 through on-air fundraising. The goals for each 1-Day drive are based on historical data.

On-air fundraising accounts for 40% of the money KUNC raises from listeners. The majority of listener contributions come through direct mail, sustaining membership, and personal solicitations.
The best way you can help make 1-Day Drives a success is by giving off-air before any fund drive. The more money KUNC raises off-air, the lower we can set our on-air goals.
1-Day On-Air Drives are simple. There are no challenge grants, no special premiums, and no opportunities to procrastinate. More programming and less on-air fundraising is the incentive for you to contribute.
