Boulder fire officials have lifted some evacuation orders, including Lake of the Pines neighborhood and North Foothills Ranch. Orders have been lifted for residents living along Lefthand Canyon from U.S. 36 to Geer Canyon. Any residents above Geer Canyon are still being kept out. An Evacuation Center has been created at the Boulder YMCA, 2850 Mapleton Ave. Fire officials are requesting that evacuees check in there even if they plan on staying somewhere else. Governor John Hickenlooper is no stranger to the beer business – but the very subject of beer got him into hot water this week. It’s one the topics that our media partners at CPTV12 and Colorado Inside Out are discussing.

Colorado Congressman Jared Polis has reintroduced legislation aimed at protecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students from bullying. It’s a move that caps off a week of state and national discussions about the topic.

It’s estimated that emergency rooms statewide see between 1,500 and 2,500 youth athlete concussion cases each year. A bill aimed at reducing that number continues to make its way through the Colorado legislature.

This week, state Democrats announced they had a plan to help K-12 funding, without massive budget cuts.  BUT, that plan involves tax increases, which Republicans and Democratic Governor John Hickenlooper say Coloradans have no appetite for.  It’s one of the topics our media partners at Colorado Public Television and Colorado Inside Out are discussing.
