Thanks to a pianist-grandmother who dragged me to hear those Fabulous Philadelphians at the Academy of Music, I got the classical bug as a kid then dabbled in radio at Williams College, and slid into a 20-year career in music radio. My mixed-genre work started at WGBH, Boston. Between Music Director roles for a couple large NPR affiliates, to encourage environmental awareness I created daily ECO-Essays, airing on 60 stations from Maine to Guam. After a privileged two years exclusively covering the world's largest classical festival for Aspen Public Radio (and interviewing scores of luminaries such as Marin Alsop, Edgar Meyer, Sarah Chang, Neville Marriner, Renee Fleming), I recently toured the world with a camera -- from Africa to New Zealand -- and topped 22,840-foot Mount Aconcagua in Argentina. I'm happy to return to earth and normal civilization -- with such a great station as KUNC. An engaging musical blend seems to be the icing on our beautiful Colorado landscape.
