5 Shows At Red Rocks That We Can't Wait For

Red Rocks concert season is quickly approaching. The biggest challenge as always is choosing what show to see. Here are our picks.

John Prine and Emmylou Harris – June 1

Prine and Harris both made 2013 stops in Colorado but this will be their first time at Red Rocks in a long time. Plus, this is their only tour date together. Drawing from an amazing catalog of music, the two will have everyone singing along all night long.

John Butler Trio w/ Frank Turner – June 6

John Butler has earned a reputation as an amazing live performer since his days busking in Fremantle, Western Australia. Butler continues to hone his skills as a musician and under the stars at Red Rocks seems like the perfect setting .

DeVotchKa, Gregory Alan Isakov & Elephant Revival w/ the Colorado Symphony – July 17

In what has become an annual tradition, DeVotchKa will team up with the Colorado Symphony to provide a stunning evening of music. Gregory Alan Isakov is also doing a set with the symphony. With Elephant Revival also on the lineup, it’s a showcase evening of Colorado music that will have everyone talking for quite some time.

Rodrigo Y Gabriela w/ Nathaniel Rateliff – August 17

Two of our favorites combine forces August 17. Rodrigo Y Gabriela started busking in Dublin, Ireland. Their energy and enthusiasm for performing quickly gained them a cult following. The New York Times called Nathaniel Rateliff “a Denver folk-pop hero.” Just my humble opinion, but Rateliff has a voice like no one else and songwriting skills that rival the best.

Joe Bonamassa – August 31

Enjoy a great evening of the blues as guitar god Joe Bonamassa pays tribute to two of his heroes, Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters. This is the only time this tribute will happen and it is being filmed for PBS. Bonamassa learned guitar before he could drive a car and opened for B.B. King before he was 12. Be here to hear music that influenced Bonamassa’s love of the blues and see why he is considered one of the best guitarists in the world.
