UPDATED - 10/28/2011 with information from Windsor, CO

Fort Collins
The City will offer no-cost branch removal and recycling assistance to all residents beginning Mon, Oct. 31; work is scheduled to be complete by the end of Nov. Both curbside pick-up (view map and schedule) and a recycling drop-off location will be available. Any residents who need assistance in moving tree branches, or who would like to volunteer to help those residents, can call 2-1-1.

Curbside Pick-up:
The City has been divided into four zones; each zone will have a scheduled pick-up week:

  • Blue Zone - Oct. 31
  • Green Zone - Nov. 7
  • Yellow Zone - Nov. 14
  • Red Zone - Nov. 21

Work will begin on the north side of town as that is where tree damage is most severe. Crews will only make one pass per zone to pick up debris. View map of detailed zone locations . It is essential that residents have all branches in place before 7 a.m. on the Monday of the week that work in their zone is scheduled to begin. Crews will move throughout each zone during its scheduled week, so residents should be aware that their branches could be picked up on any day within their week. It is imperative to meet the 7 a.m. Monday morning deadline, because crews WILL NOT return to an area within a work zone that has already been cleared.

In most residential areas, residents can place their branches in the street by the curb. Residents living on arterial streets (heavy traffic) should not place branches in the roadway. These residents should place branches at the back of the sidewalk or, if there is no sidewalk, at the back of the curb. Please ensure that all travel lanes and sidewalks are clear. In both residential areas and arterial streets, crews will not remove debris from yards or driveways.

Drop-off Site:
If residents wish to clear storm debris before their scheduled neighborhood cleanup, they can drop off branches at the City’s Crushing Operations Facility located at 1380 Hoffman Mill Rd. The Crushing Operations Facility will be open and staffed from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Mon-Fri, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sat, Oct. 31 until Nov. 23. Please check in at the scale house upon arrival for directions.

Residents can also drop off materials at Hageman Earth Cycle recycling center (fee charged) located at 3501 E. Prospect Rd.

The latest, most up to date information on the Fort Collins Branch Removal Project can be found here.

Windsor
The Town of Windsor will be providing FREE pickup of downed limbs and branches, working in various parts of the Town on Various days.

Trees located on private property are the responsibility of the property owner. The Town recommends utilizing an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified insured and bonded tree contractor to perform work in trees if necessary. Town crews will evaluate trees located in the public right of way and address safety issues as appropriate.

Curbside Pick-up:
Beginning October 31, 2011, Town crews and contractors will pick up curbside.  Residents should have tree limbs and branches in the street at the curb by 7:00am on the morning of the date indicated.  Areas and dates are indicated on the Zone Map and Schedule as follows

  • Green Zone ready by 7am on October 31
  • Purple Zone ready by 7am on November 1
  • Tan Zone ready by 7am on November 2
  • Red Zone ready by 7am on November 7
  • Yellow Zone ready by 7am on November 9

Crews will move through zone areas and pass on a street only once.  It is imperative that vehicles be removed from the area to allow unobstructed access for equipment and crews.  Residents are advised to obey traffic CONE ZONES.  Streets will be blocked temporarily for safety while crews are at work.
Drop-off Site:
The Town has designated three drop off zones for tree limbs and branches.  These sites are also indicated on the Zone Map and listed below:

  1. Diamond Valley Brush Site (901 Diamond Valley Drive)
  2. Chimney Park Pool parking lot (421 Chimney Park Drive)
  3. North West corner of 15th Street and Walnut Street

The sites will be available until November 14, 2011, with the exception of Diamond Valley Brush and Recycle site which will be open FREE of charge through the end of the year.
Loveland
The City of Loveland will open two additional sites Oct. 28 for drop-off of broken tree limbs and branches. The new sites will be in addition to the Loveland Recycling Center, 400 N. Wilson Ave.

The new sites will be at the former Agilent property and Centennial Park. The Recycling Center and the two new sites will operate 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. every day. Access for drop-off at the Agilent property will be through the east entrance of the property, using Barboura Dr. from S. Roosevelt Avenue. Access into Centennial Park will be from First Street. Signage at the properties will guide motorists to the drop-off locations.

Limb disposal at all sites will be free to Loveland residents with a valid 2011 yard debris permit.  Anyone without a permit is asked to dispose of their branches at the Recycling Center where a $2.50 per cu. yd. fee will be collected.

The City of Loveland will not remove broken branches from private property. These branches should not be placed at the curb for pick up. Do not drag branches to the curb as the City will not pick up branches curbside following this storm. Residents who require assistance can call a commercial tree-trimming company or a landscape maintenance company for help in branch trimming and cleanup. For more information call the City’s Solid Waste Division, 962-2529 or visit www.cityofloveland.org

Greeley
Residents do not need to call to request a pick up at this time—they are asked to move their tree limbs to the curb for pick up by Nov. 7.  City crews are not on a specific street-by-street schedule; however, they have started picking up limbs along main arterial streets.  When that is completed, they’ll move to residential neighborhoods. Residents are asked to move their limbs to the curb for pick up or take them to the free drop site at 14th Avenue and A Street.  Crews will only pick up limbs that have been moved to the curb.  They cannot cut down trees or cut off broken limbs that are still attached to trees.  They also cannot move branches and trees that have fallen on houses or cars.

Elderly and disabled residents are encouraged to seek assistance from family and friends.  If that assistance is not available to them, they can use the City’s Snow & Ice Hot Line:  351-SNOW (7669) to request help.

Drop-off Site:
The City of Greeley’s tree limb drop site is open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.  Residents are encouraged to bring their broken tree limbs and bushes to the free site located at 14th Avenue and A Street on the southwest corner across the street from the entrance to Centennial Village Museum. It will remain open through Nov. 15.

Boulder
the City of Boulder and Western Disposal are partnering to help community members dispose of downed tree branches. Starting Monday, Oct. 31, Western Disposal will provide one extra pickup of branches that are left out for curbside compost collection.

  • Branches left at the curb must be no longer than six feet and no bigger than six inches in diameter.
  • Place branches and tree limbs at the curb before your regular compost collection day.
  • They will be picked up once within the next two weeks (Oct. 31 to Nov. 11).
  • Western will NOT be picking up branches from alleys.  They must be placed curbside.
  • Please keep bike lanes free of debris when placing your branches at the curb.

This service is being provided in response to the extreme conditions caused by the recent storm.  Following this special pickup, residents can continue to place tree branches and leaves out on their regularly scheduled compost pickup days throughout the year. After this additional branch collection, residents must bundle their branches as normally required.
Drop-off site:
Community members may continue to bring leaves or branches to the Yard Waste Drop-off Center located at Western Disposal, 5880 Butte Mill Road. The drop-off center’s hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The drop-off center is free for city residents; there is a small charge for commercial yard wastes. For more information on the Yard Waste Drop-off site, visit www.westerndisposal.com.

I’m not a Colorado native (did you know that "I'm from Missouri" means "I'm skeptical of the matter and not easily convinced?") but I have lived here for most of my life and couldn't imagine leaving. After graduating from Colorado State University, I did what everyone wants to do; I moved to the mountains and skied, hiked, and hid from responsibility! Our listeners in the mountains may know me from my time in Steamboat Springs and Vail or as the voice of the Battle Mountain Huskies Hockey team in Vail.
