Colorado Cities Claims Spots For Most Live Music -- And Least

Denver - home of the Pepsi Center - was named number 9 in the country for cities with the most concerts.

In the concert industry, Colorado has long been considered a “flyover state,” but Denver still ranks in the top 10 for the amount of live music.

According to data analysis from ticket search engine SeatGeek, Denver ranks number 9 -- hosting just over 10 major-artist concerts for every 100,000 residents. Las Vegas, the self-proclaimed ‘Entertainment Capital of the World,’ easily nabbed the number one spot on the list with 59 concerts per 100,000.

When the data was divided by genre, Denver took the number six spot for rock concerts, 10th for pop concerts and fifth for rap and hip-hop concerts.

Alternately, Colorado Springs and Pueblo were ranked fifth among cities hosting the least number of major music acts, with just 1.2 concerts per 100,000 residents.

The analysis looked at concert data between January 2013 and 2015 based on the top 100 artists based on sales.
