Colorado Knows You Have Marijuana Questions, This Website Has The Answers

A screencap from www.colorado.gov/marijuana

Want to know if you can take marijuana with you when you leave Colorado? First of all – No – and the state is going to help out. Colorado is launching a website aimed at answering those health and consumption questions.

Since retail marijuana became legal Colorado has fielded a wide range of questions:

  • Is smoking marijuana through a water pipe or bong safer than smoking without a filter?
  • If I head to a retail marijuana business, can I bring my children in with me?
  • Can I grow my marijuana plants outside?
  • And many more…

“I don't know if there's a common question. I think the most common theme is confusion,” said Larry Wolk, executive director for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. “There’s a lot of misinformation about marijuana, about the components of marijuana, what am I legally allowed to buy?”
As an example of the site's knowledge, did you know that there are over 200 slang terms for marijuana?

In addition to the state Department of Public Health, the website compiles information from the state’s departments of Transportation, Education, Revenue and Human Services.

Wolk hopes this is a first in a multi-pronged media outreach campaign following Amendment 64. He wants to get funds to research how best to reach marijuana buyers, users, parents and children.

“This is kind of the used car [approach] in what we hope will be the fleet of new cars,” said Wolk, referring to the website. “Unfortunately we don’t yet have the authorization from the marijuana tax revenue from the legislature to spend on that yet. But we do have a proposal in.”

Wolk is hoping to receive approval for the new funds in the coming weeks.
