Colorado’s unemployment rate fell to 6.9 percent in April. That’s two tenths of one percentage point lower than March’s rate of 7.1 percent.
Private sector nonfarm payroll jobs increased by 11,600 from March to April with no gains in the government sector.
According to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, largest over the month jobs gains were in professional and business services and leisure and hospitality. Largest over the month decline was in trade, transportation and inutilities.
That national unemployment rate was at 7.5 percent in April.
April 2012 to April 2013
- Average workweek – down from 35.1 to 34.3 hours
- Average hourly earnings – up from $24.87 to $25.49
- Unemployment rate – down from 8.2 percent to 6.9 percent
- Nonfarm payroll jobs – up 63,200
- Private sector payroll jobs – up 60,600
- Government jobs – up 2,600
