From the Desk of President Neil Best: Partnerships And Our Service To You

There is exciting news to share this month.

KUNC is honoring the vision and expectations of its strategic plan with an expansion in the ability to report on issues of importance to all of us. As you will read in both cases partnerships with colleagues is crucial, but our partnership with you, the KUNC member is at the heart of this significant growth.

In partnership with public broadcasting colleagues RMPBS and KUVO we are hiring a reporter who will cover the arts and culture beat in Colorado. We know these are areas of importance and interest to our listening audiences and coverage in the past has not been as robust as it needs to be. The creation of this position will result in extended coverage of issues and events that will be heard both on KUNC and KUVO and seen on RMPBS.

We are also excited to announce that KUNC is now a partner in the Harvest Public Media Project. Harvest is a journalism based project focused on reporting issues related to food, fuel, and field. In essence confronting the issues faced by the agricultural sector that have such a large impact on our economy, our health, land use decisions, and a multitude of other concerns.

KUNC will be adding a reporter focused on these areas of concern. We will be working with KCUR in Kansas City, KBIA in Columbia Missouri, Iowa Public Radio, Nebraska Television and Radio, WSIU in Springfield, Il, Kansas Public Radio, and High Plains Public Radio in Garden City, KS. Working together we will be able to report local, regional, and national issues and their implications. You are already hearing the reporting from our colleagues at Harvest Public Media on KUNC during Morning Edition and All Things Considered.

Final interviews for both of these positions are taking place this month. Be listening in the weeks ahead for an extension of KUNC’s coverage of these critical topics. As you listen please let us know what you think of our expanded coverage.

Warm Regards,

President & CEO
