Duck Lays Eggs In Its Nest At Home Depot

RENEE MONTAGNE, host:

Good morning. I'm Renee Montagne.

For a nesting duck in Maine, a Home Depot has become just home. According to the Bangor Daily News, the female mallard built her nest amid flowers and fertilizers. Protected by a Do Not Disturb sign, she's laid seven eggs and become a star in the lawn and garden section. It's the mallard's second year to nest at the Home Depot. And the newspaper reports the chicks could break their shells any day, quoting an employee amazingly named Brenda Hatch.
