Summer is almost over, but the good news is that there's plenty of amazing music to look forward to this fall. Felix Contreras and Jasmine Garsd, hosts of NPR Music's Alt.Latino, join Weekend Edition Sunday this week to talk about some of their favorite new and upcoming Latin alternative music.

Alt.Latino covers artists who straddle the line between traditional Latin genres — salsa, cumbia, merengue, even tango — and popular styles such as rock, rap and electronica. The show's playlist includes some infectious Spanglish techno from Dominican-American rapper Maluca, a homeland ode from Panamanian hip-hop duo Los Rakas, and a mellow lullaby by Colombian rock legend Andrea Echeverri. Listen to this week's Alt.Latino for even more Latin alternative artists to watch in the coming months.
