Head Over Heels For Cheese

MARY LOUISE KELLY, host:

Good morning. I'm Mary Louise Kelly.

About 200 people gathered in England yesterday for the traditional cheese rolling contest. The idea is to slip and somersault to the bottom of Cooper's Hill near Gloucester in pursuit of a wheel of Double Gloucester cheese. Police had actually canceled the event out of concerns over safety and ticket prices. But rebel cheese rollers still turned up to find not just police, but fog and rain. One British paper summed it up: In this weather, they must all be crackers.
