Job Growth Slowed In April, Private Researchers Say

There were 179,000 more private sector jobs last month, according to the ADP National Employment Report released earlier this morning. The researchers revised up their estimate of job growth in March — to a gain of 207,000 jobs, vs. the previous estimate of 201,000.

The news comes in advance of Friday's much-anticipated report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics on what its surveys say about job growth and the unemployment rate in April. The bureau's last report, about the month of March, pegged the jobless rate at 8.8 percent and job gains that month at 216,000.
