Galas, Celebrations of Dia de Los Muertos, and Balls amongst the offerings this weekend.

Support the arts while you dance the night away at the third annual Dead Artists Ball, tomorrow night (10/22) 7:00pm – 11:00pm, at the Peaks Bar & Grill at the Indian Peaks Golf Course in Lafayette.  hors d’oeuvres, music by DJ Ironfeather, dancing, and a costume contest.  People are encouraged to dress as their favorite “Dead Artist,” but all costumes are welcome.  The best costume in each category will be awarded a prize.  Categories include: People's Choice, Most Convincing, Best "Work of Art" and Most Creative. 

After almost 31 years of bringing the joy of bluegrass to people all over the world, Ft. Collins’ own Bluegrass Patriots are having their final show tonight at Avogadro ’s Number in Ft. Collins.  :’-(

CSU Opera Theatre and the CSU Opera Orchestra presents  Stephen Sondheim’s American musical theatre classic, Sweeney Todd – the demon barber of Fleet street -- a chilling tale of betrayal and murder, Sweeny Todd, tonight at the Griffin concert Hall, University Center for the Arts in Ft. CU Opera brings Mozart's charming classic about sex, love, intrigue, and marriage that has delighted audiences opens this delightful classic on Friday, October 21, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 23, 2 p.m. at Macky Auditorium, University of Colorado in Boulder.

First practiced by the ancient Aztecs and still observed today, Dia de los Muertos celebrates and honors the lives of those who are no longer with us. Join the Lincoln Park Library for two special programs recognizing the traditions of the Day of the Dead for families with children ages 6 and younger, enjoy some special stories and traditional crafts in the Children's Room. For ages 7 and older. Celebrations of La Ofrenda de los Muertos: Honoring Days of the Deadat the Longmont Museum all month long, plus the largest Day of the Dead Celebration in Colorado next Saturday at the Museum, Art Night In in Old Town Lafayette offers story weaver Suzanne Conolly Howes spin spooky tales of the trickster in Coyote tales and treats  as well as libations and goodies along the 400 block of Public Road in Old Town Lafayette starting at 6:30 tonight . 

The Longmont chorale kicks off their 75 the Anniversary Season with "Steal Away to Spirituals and Gospel Music," A concert combining the Worship Choir from Calvary Church in Longmont with the Chorale for the sharing of inspirational spirituals,  tomorrow  (10/22)  at  Niwot High School  www.longmontchorale.org

David Korevaar, an internationally recognized pianist who has built an avid fan base in the Boulder/Denver area, performs Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2, with the Broomfield Symphony Orchestra tomorrow night  (10/22) at the Broomfield Auditorium, 3 Community Park Road, Broomfield, 7:30 p.m. Tickets $6 - $15. Stories on Stage presents "A Colorado Collection" Celebrate the amazing talent we have within our own state: All of the stories were written by Colorado authors and will be read by Colorado actors at Boulder’s Dairy Center for the Arts tomorrow night at 7:30 and Sunday at 1:30 and 6:30

Dance the night away at Annual Wild Goose Masquerade Ball this Saturday Oct. 22 at the Lory Student center ballroom  CSU campus ft Collins The 50-piece Mostly Strauss Orchestra will play waltzes/polkas and down-to-earth 20th century dances. The Grand March is at 8PM, dancing until 11:30. Costumes encouraged, prizes awarded! Otherwise formal/ semi-formal, whatever!!

The 17th Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition  is a month long event featuring the works of top poster artists and designers from around the world  at the Clara Hatton Gallery, Colorado State University Visual Arts Building in Ft. Collins. 970-491-5529
