Lime Gulch Fire Containment at 5%; Evacuations Remain In Effect

The Lime Gulch Fire continues to burn in a remote part of southern Jefferson County. On Friday officials decreased the size estimate of the fire from 600 acres to 498 acres.

The size was figured after a flight with infrared mapping provided a more accurate survey of the wildfire terrain.

Evacuations remain in effect, but could be lifted later Friday. Crews are also working to restore power to those areas that have been cut off.

Fire Incident Commander Dan Dalles said during a Friday morning press conference that although a red flag warning was in effect for the area, he expects a good positioning of fire crews to increase containment lines around the fire. 283 fire personnel are working on the ground.

Road closures remain in effect in and around the burn zone. For a complete list click here.
