You may have noticed a new voice hosting Morning Edition recently. As of last week, I have stepped away from my role as Morning Edition host to become KUNC’s Assistant News Director. I’ll primarily be responsible for shaping our newscasts and working with on-air hosts.
I’ve been hosting Morning Edition here at KUNC (minus a few months here and there) since July 2009. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long! Time really does fly when you’re having fun – and hosting Morning Edition here has given me great enjoyment over the years.
I will miss being that voice listeners hear first thing in the morning, but I’m truly excited about my new role and the challenges awaiting me. Plus, after almost 20 combined years of hosting mornings at both commercial and public radio stations, I admit I’m looking forward to sleeping in just a little bit!
I’m truly excited to hand the reins to our new host Kyra Buckley.
Kyra joins us from KLCC in Eugene, Oregon, where she was a reporter and Weekend Edition host. A Native of Eugene, she graduated from the University of Oregon in 2015 with a BA in Journalism and Political Science. She brings many great qualities to KUNC – a warm, engaging personality, solid news judgment and a genuine curiosity about the community.
