Norway's Prime Minister Encourages Parental Leave

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.

Two cabinet ministers in Norway are off the job and the prime minister could not be happier. That's because the justice minister and family affairs minister are both men on parental leave. And the prime minister has been pushing fathers as well as mothers to take time off for newborns. The prime minister recalls his own time pushing a stroller around in the 1980s. He says, I have never met so many women as I did then.
