Romney Makes Early Campaign Stop in Colorado

Creative Commons

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is in Colorado meeting with small business owners in Aurora. He’ll also hold a private fundraiser in Cherry Hills Village this evening.

Colorado Statesman publisher Jody Hope Strogoff says the former Massachusetts governor is already off to a strong start in the state.

“Of all the candidates Mitt Romney probably has as big a space here in Colorado and it looks like, unless something happens dramatically, that he looks to be the front runner for sure,” says Strogoff.

Romney won the Colorado primary in 2008 over eventual GOP presidential nominee John McCain.

Romney has been leading in national polls and has the backing of several top Colorado Republicans including former Governor Bill Owens and former Senators Wayne Allard and Hank Brown.
