Bluegrass-inspired singer-songwriter Sarah Jarosz performs on today's World Cafe.

Multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Sarah Jarosz made a name for herself as a bluegrass prodigy, releasing her debut album in 2009 at the age of 18.

After taking a brief detour from her burgeoning career to study at the New England Conservatory of Music, Jarosz remains one of the most exciting young voices in folk music. On her new album, Follow Me Down, she departs from bluegrass orthodoxy to craft a hybrid style that draws on traditional Appalachian sounds and a collage of contemporary influences, featuring guest performances by master musicians like banjo ace Bela Fleck and dobro player Jerry Douglas.

Hear Sarah Jarosz perform live and discuss her musical education on today's World Cafe.
