Stop Us If You've Heard This One: Winning 'Lie' Had Been Told Before

There's been some buzz today about a Wisconsin-based club's annual award for "lie of the year."

First there were straight-ahead stories about the Burlington Liars Club giving the "honor" to David Milz of Bristol, Wis., for this line: "I almost had a psychic girlfriend, but she left me before we met."

Oops. Now, as the Associated Press writes, the stories are about the fact that it's a line that's been used before. Comedian Steven Wright generally gets the credit.

According to the AP, Milz says he came up with the line on his own and the club doesn't care whether it was original or not. Of course, they could be ... stretching the truth?
