Summer DUI Arrests Up In Colorado

KUNC

The “100 Days of Heat” summer DUI enforcement campaign wrapped up this week. The Colorado Department of Transportation reports 2,793 DUI arrests were made between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day.

There was a 6 percent increase in DUI arrests this year over last summer’s 2,634 DUI arrests.

Of the 2,793 DUI arrests made this summer, 1,440 occurred during the national crackdown that nearly 90 law enforcement agencies participated in between Aug.17 - Sep.3. That 18-day crackdown netted an average of 80 DUI arrests each day.

There were more than 26,000 DUI arrests across the state last year. That averaged to 72 DUI arrests each day in 2011.
