Today: House Hearing On 'Muslim Radicalization'

As our colleague Liz Halloran writes this morning, "New York Rep. Peter King's hearings on what he has characterized as the 'radicalization of Muslims in America' open Thursday amid a clamor of outrage from many quarters."

We've posted about the hearings and the controversy surrounding them several times:

-- " Rep. King Defends Past Support Of IRA; Current Focus On Muslims."

-- " Hearing On 'Muslim Radicalization' Is Needed, Islamic Forum Founder Says."

-- " Hearing On 'Muslim Radicalization' Misses Greater Threats, Congressman Says."

Liz, and other NPR correspondents, will be following the news from Capitol Hill as the day continues. We'll report back later on the highlights.

Among the ways to watch is the live video feed from King's House Committee on Homeland Security. Today's session begins at 9:30 a.m. ET. (King, a New York Republican, chairs the committee.)

The scheduled witnesses:

-- Rep. John Dingell (D-MI).

-- Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN).

-- Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA).

-- Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, President and Founder, American Islamic Forum for Democracy.

-- Abdirizak Bihi, Director, Somali Education and Social Advocacy Center.

-- Melvin Bledsoe, whose son allegedly attacked a military recruiting center in Arkansas (killing one soldier and wounding another) after being converting to Islam and being radicalized.

-- Los Angeles County Sheriff Leroy Baca.
