Trees Burned By Wildfire Fuel CSU Celebration

Students, faculty, alumni and fans of Colorado State University are celebrating homecoming weekend in Fort Collins. The football game begins tonight at 7 when the Rams take on Fresno State.

But homecoming festivities kicked off Friday night with the annual homecoming bonfire. This year, CSU students teamed up with the Colorado State Forest Service and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention to gather trees burned by this summer’s High Park Fire to use as fuel for the bonfire.

The High Park Fire burned more than 87,000 acres west of Fort Collins. The trees collected for the bonfire were from the Tom Borden Memorial Forest in Rist Canyon.
