'We Will Die For Our Country' In Fight Against Gadhafi, Libyan Diplomat Says

The Libyan people who are fighting to overthrow the regime of Col. Moammar Gadhafi need some help from the U.S. and other nations but do not want foreign soldiers to come to their aid, says Libyan diplomat Ali Aujali.

Aujali, the Libyan ambassador to the U.S. who last month announced he was quitting Gadhafi's government, told Tell Me More host Michel Martin a short time ago that Libyans need just a few things from the international community:

-- Recognition of the council that anti-Gadhafi forces have established as an alternative government. ( Related post on It's All Politics: "Obama Team Shoots Down Libya No Fly Talk.")

-- Enforcement of a no fly zone over much of the country to protect anti-government protesters from Gadhafi's military aircraft.

-- Some arms.

"We will die for our country," Aujali said. "We don't want foreigners ... to die for our country.

"We will do the fight[ing]. Don't worry."

Here's a clip from the conversation:
