Each year Colorado lawmakers pass a bill to fund water projects, but last session the measure almost failed after it became a casualty of a Republican filibuster on civil unions. The Governor and lawmakers ultimately passed the measure during a special session.

KUNC’s state capitol reporter Bente Birkeland has more on the bill and the future of water storage in the state.

Bente Birkeland has been reporting on state legislative issues for KUNC and Rocky Mountain Community Radio since 2006. Originally, from Minnesota, Bente likes to hike and ski in her spare time. She keeps track of state politics throughout the year but is especially busy during the annual legislative session from January through early May.
