In Alabama Friday, President Obama and the first lady will meet with families whose homes were destroyed by tornadoes. Gov. Robert Bentley will show the Obamas storm damage as search and rescue crews keep looking for survivors.

A number of car factories and aerospace plants have shut down temporarily, and some coal mines have suspended production. At a Mercedes Benz plant in Alabama, the damage wasn't bad, but managers closed the plant so workers could take care of their families.
