For over a decade, Eleanor Friedberger and her brother, Matthew, have dazzled and bewildered audiences in the relentlessly experimental indie rock band The Fiery Furnaces. The siblings released seven albums in seven years before taking a hiatus last year to work on solo material. Eleanor's debut, Last Summer, was released this July.

Today's World Cafe guest is Grammy Award-winning producer and singer-songwriter T-Bone Burnett. Although he's been performing and producing since 1965, Burnett is perhaps best known these days for his role as music supervisor for the Coen Brother's 2001 film O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Kate Bush's first album, Kick Inside, was released in 1978, when Bush was just 19 years old. The single, "Wuthering Heights," shot to the top of the UK pop charts and stayed at No. 1 for months.

Today, World Cafe welcomes back Joseph Arthur. He's appeared on the Cafe many times since the release of his debut album on Peter Gabriel's Real World Records in 1997. In the past year, the prolific singer-songwriter has released two albums: Fistful of Mercy, a collaboration with Ben Harper and Dhani Harrison, and The Graduation Ceremony, a solo record.

Warren Haynes is one of Rolling Stone's 25 greatest guitarists of all time. Since the 1980s, he's played with the Allman Brothers, the reunited Dead, and his own band, Gov't Mule. Before he took up the guitar, though, Haynes says he wanted to be a singer.

"The first sound that ever made the hair on my arms stand up was black gospel music coming over the radio in North Carolina where I grew up. I got this feeling I couldn't explain," Haynes tells host David Dye in today's interview.
