Taxes, child-proof packaging, poison control and product safety – just a few of the humdrum issues lawmakers have to tackle now that Amendment 64 has legalized marijuana in Colorado. 

Wednesday’s Amendment 64 Task Force Report is heavy reading. The 166-page study takes a comprehensive look at everything from home cultivation and processing of marijuana to THC potency limits on infused products.

Voters approved the recreational use of marijuana last November, but it’s now up to Colorado lawmakers to figure out how the drug should be grown, sold and taxed.

Colorado voters recently legalized small amounts of marijuana. State lawmakers must work out the details and regulations. They put together a special committee. Because it consists of members of both the state House and Senate, it is known by the phrase that such committee always are. Yes, it is the joint committee on marijuana regulation.
