Attitudes on Civil Unions Changing In Colorado

A recent survey by Public Policy Polling, a Democratic survey company, suggests a majority of Coloradans – 62% - favor passage of a state civil unions bill. The bill is scheduled for a hearing this Thursday in the same house committee where it failed last year by one vote.

Senate Initially Approves Civil Unions Measure

The state Senate had a lengthy and at times emotional debate on a bill to allow civil unions in Colorado. It's the second year in a row the Senate has taken up the measure. It still needs a final vote before it can move to the House, and this year the discussion showed more division among Republicans.

A bill that would allow civil unions in Colorado cleared its first legislative hurdle on Wednesday. After a lengthy debate, the measure passed the senate judiciary committee on a bi-partisan vote.

The state senate will take up a measure this week on whether to allow civil unions in Colorado. A similar bill failed last year in the Republican controlled house by a single vote.
