More Than 3 Million Visit Rocky Mountain National Park In 2012

Rocky Mountain National Park

Visitation at Rocky Mountain National Park was up slightly last year to 3,229,618. That’s about 2 percent higher than 2011 figures. Park Spokeswoman Kyle Patterson says the increase is partially due to a change in how traffic is tracked.

The Foundation for Colorado State Parks, a 501(c)(3) organization, is pioneering an effort to attract corporate sponsors to Colorado's state parks. The proposal is in the early stages of development but officials say it could be implemented by 2013.

House Committee Hears Testimony on DOW/State Park Merger

A House Committee will hear testimony this afternoon on a proposed merger between the Colorado Division of Wildlife and Colorado State Parks.

The move requires approval from both the House and Senate, which passed the measure in April. Proponents say that it would makes services more efficient, and could save the state up to $3 million every year.
