As Boulder residents return to areas evacuated because of the Flagstaff fire, officials say they expect the blaze to burn through the summer.

Officials at the Air Force Academy say they’re going ahead with plans to welcome about a thousand new cadets in the class of 2016 scheduled to report today; despite the Waldo Canyon Fire that’s been threatening the area. 

In Boulder, the Flagstaff Fire remains at about 230 acres and hasn’t grown considerably today though a couple thousand pre-evacuation orders are still in effect for neighborhoods on the south side of the city as the blaze continues to threaten scores of homes and the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
