Billed as the world’s largest commercial beer competition, the Great American Beer Festival gets underway Thursday in Denver.

Thousands of craft beer makers, distributors and just plain beer fans are in Denver through tomorrow night for the 30th annual Great American Beer Festival.  The event’s 40,000 public tickets sold out in just a few days; an indication of how well this industry is doing even in the bad economy.

This week Colorado’s passion for craft brewing will be front and center in Denver. The city is hosting more than 70 special events—in addition to the Great American Beer Festival, which kicks off later this week.
