NHL Cancels Games Through Oct. 24

Last season, the Los Angeles Kings won the Stanley Cup. But when will they play next?

The National Hockey League today officially canceled games scheduled through Oct. 24 as players and management remain at odds over a new contract.

We like hockey. We suspect some of you do too. But we have to wonder whether missing some of what's become a very long regular season will matter all that much to most fans.

And I'm Robert Siegel. The National Hockey League has rejoined the ranks of pro sports with labor problems. The league this week locked out its players and canceled all preseason games this month. Los Angeles Kings Capture Their First Stanley Cup

At last the Los Angeles Kings are Stanley Cup champions. NBC's Mike Emrick had the call last night.

MIKE EMRICK: For the first time in their 45 year history, a Stanley Cup for Los Angeles. The Kings are the kings.
