A request from Democratic Senate President Brandon Shaffer to audit the state’s online K-12 schools has failed to move forward. Members of the Legislative Audit Committee today voted 4 to 4 along party lines to kill the request.

A new study by the Boulder-based National Education Policy Center is raising more questions about the quality and oversight of online K-12 schools across the country.

The I-News Network, a Colorado-based in-depth news consortium, and one of its partners, the nonprofit Education News Colorado, investigated what’s really happening with thousands of Colorado K-12 students who try an online school each year.
