Military C-130 MAFFS Remain Over Western Wildfires

Air Force C-130’s equipped with the Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System will continue to fight western wildfires. To date, they have dropped over 1.2 million gallons of fire retardant according to the U.S. Forest Service.

It appears the Air Force’s C-130’s equipped with Mobile Air Fire Fighting Systems (MAFFS) will be activated to help fight the Black Forest Fire near Colorado Springs.

The U.S. Forest Service has requested four Air Force C-130 Hercules air tankers equipped with MAFFS be activated to assist the civilian air tanker fleet.
