Democratic Senator Mark Udall says he’s seeing a “sense of urgency” in the U.S. mission in Afghanistan. Senator Udall traveled to Afghanistan as part of a U.S. Congressional Delegation this week to talk with military leaders, the intelligence community and senior Department of State Officials.
President Obama was on his way back to Washington D.C. Wednesday afternoon after wrapping up a three state western swing at the University of Colorado at Denver. There he touted his stalled jobs bill and offered more details on his plan to give students more flexibility with their financial aid debt.
Western swing-states with growing Latino populations were instrumental in sending President Obama to the White House in 2008. Now as he faces what’s expected to be a close contest for re-election in 2012, the President is counting on Latino voters in battleground states like Colorado again. Many Latinos as a voting block have long sided with Democrats. But the party isn’t taking anything for granted this go around, and neither are Republicans.
