Colorado’s wildfire season has been quiet so far, only 3,400 acres have burned across the state. That’s a far cry from the well over 100,000 acres blackened by July 2013.
As numerous fires continue to burn across Colorado and the western United States, the fatal crash of a key part of the firefighting effort concerned officials battling the blazes.
Cooler weather is expected for Colorado going into the Labor Day weekend but there’s also a forecast for increased fire danger today.
Citing decreased danger in northern and eastern Colorado, the Bureau of Land Management has lifted fire restrictions on its lands in Boulder, Gilpin, Larimer, Lincoln, Logan, Morgan, Sedgwick, Washington, Weld and Yuma counties.
