Judge Declares Mistrial In Roger Clemens Case

The perjury trial of onetime pitching ace Roger Clemens has blown up into a mistrial. On just the second day of testimony, federal Judge Reggie Walton ruled that prosecutors had indelibly tainted Clemens' ability to get a fair trial by exposing the jury to inadmissible evidence.

Still unresolved is whether prosecutors will get a second chance at making their case in front of another jury.

Roger Clemens Lied About Steroid Use, Jury Told

Baseball pitching star Roger Clemens, winner of a record seven Cy Young awards, sat silently in federal court on Wednesday, as his trial opened on charges of perjury and obstruction of Congress — charges that carry a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison.

Clemens remained expressionless as the prosecutor, Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven Durham, told the jury that the government had physical proof that the 48-year-old one-time pitching ace had been repeatedly injected with anabolic steroids and human growth hormone.

2018 Winter Olympics To Be In South Korea

The 2018 Winter Olympics will be in Pyeongchang, South Korea, the International Olympic Committee just announced from Durban, South Africa.

The other finalists were: Munich, Germany, and Annecy, France.

The last time the Winter Olympics were held in Asia was in 1998, at Nagano, Japan.

The 2010 Winter Games were held in Vancouver, Canada. The 2014 Winter Games will be in Sochi, Russia.

Summer Olympics are set for London in 2012 and Rio De Janeiro in 2016.

LA Dodgers File For Bankruptcy

The Los Angeles Dodgers have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Major League Baseball recently nixed a TV deal for the Dodgers that team owner Frank McCourt said would provide financial stability for the team. The bankruptcy filing appears to be a last ditch effort by McCourt to keep baseball from seizing the Dodgers — one of the most storied teams in sports.
