Mountain Roads Reopening For Long Weekend

For those of you wishing to venture into the mountains this 2014 Memorial Day weekend you’re in luck. Many mountain roads closed for the winter are now reopening. Some roads remain closed for the foreseeable future and others are temporarily open during daytime hours. Here's a complete list on the current status of the main mountain roads for Colorado’s Northern and Central Mountains.

Across The U.S., Bicycle Commuting Picks Up Speed

The ranks of bicycle commuters are growing, though men are almost three times more likely than women to ride to work.

As bicycling goes, America is far behind Copenhagen, the promised land where roads look like bicycle highways as people pedal to work. But commuting by bike in the U.S. is catching on — though geographic, income and gender disparities persist.

In Chicago, busy Sheridan Road is the start of the Lakefront bike trail on its north side. That's where you can find plenty of bicyclists commuting to work early in the morning.

Union Station was the home Friday for a day-long ceremonial opening, replete with everything you'd expect as Denver celebrated its future transit hub. The day was marked by a ribbon cutting, official speeches, music, games, and - of course - a beer garden.

Behemoth Steam Train, Big Boy No. 4014, Returns Home To Cheyenne

Union Pacific's No. 4014 'Big Boy' arrives in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

An imposing piece of railroad history has returned to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Union Pacific’s No. 4014 ‘Big Boy’ completed the more than 1,000 mile trip from Colton, California to Cheyenne. It will now undergo an extensive renovation to restore it to full steam powered service.
