In addition to his package of tax credits for businesses that hire veterans, President Obama this week is promoting a new program that allows veterans to receive personalized case management and career center counseling.
There were 397,000 first-time claims for unemployment benefits last week, down 9,000 from the week before, the Employment and Training Administration just reported.
Unemployment rates fell in 25 states last month, including in Colorado. That’s despite a slight decline in the number of nonfarm payroll jobs in the state.
The U.S. Labor Department says unemployment rates increased in 26 states last month. In spite of job losses, Colorado’s unemployment rate remains unchanged at 8.5%.
