Wildfires Keep Crews Busy in Southern Colorado

Crews battling a 25,000 acre wildfire along the Colorado-New Mexico border are up against more hot and windy weather today. The Track Fire is 20% contained. But a red flag warning in the region has fire managers concerned.

Track Fire Spreads into Colorado

In southern Colorado, I-25 between Trinidad and Raton, New Mexico remains closed as firefighters battle an out-of-control blaze that’s threatening some 300 structures in the area. 

The Track Fire has more than tripled in size and has quickly spread from north of Raton into Colorado.  It’s also forced numerous evacuations. 

Rosemary Ragsdale has been out of her home since early Monday morning. She's staying with her sister who runs a motel in Raton.

BLM Lifts Fire Restrictions in Northern Colorado

Colorado State Forest Service

Citing decreased danger in northern and eastern Colorado, the Bureau of Land Management has lifted fire restrictions on its lands in Boulder, Gilpin, Larimer, Lincoln, Logan, Morgan, Sedgwick, Washington, Weld and Yuma counties.

Colorado Braced for Extended Fire Season
