Colorado National Guard Opens Readiness Center in Windsor

Colorado's Army National Guard

A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled this afternoon at the Colorado Army National Guard’s newest readiness center in Windsor. Construction on the 30,715 square feet facility began in September 2011 and cost nearly $10 million.

Remembering 9/11

9/11: Colorado's Memorials

Windsor is one of several Colorado fire departments to receive steel from the World Trade Center.

After the twin towers fell and recovery operations progressed, the New York and New Jersey Port Authority began storing tons of rusted steel beams from the World Trade Center. After considering thousands of applications for the steel, the Port Authority began shipping the modern artifacts across the country this year—including 15 pieces to Colorado.
