Basketball and Acedemics
Tahira Simon of Youth Radio reports on how a girl's basketball coach at a California high school is helping his players on and off the court. Jeff Duncan-Andrade of Oakland High School keeps his girls focused on getting into college by requiring them to attend team study sessions six hours a week, even in the off season. His approach has turned the sports team into an academic program, and is helping his players prepare for the SATs.
