It's Martin Luther King, Jr. day today, and the NPR Music team is out. Blogging returns in full on Tuesday.
In the meantime, we might direct you to the major work, conceived by bassist Christian McBride, called The Movement Revisited. It pairs the narrated text of speeches by great civil rights movement leaders with a gospel choir and a jazz big band. And it was executed in 2008 at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and recorded for NPR Music's Discoveries at Walt Disney Concert Hall series.
We'll finally feature the full special later this year. Until then, here's a small taste, from the section featuring Dr. King's "I Have A Dream" speech.
And of course, it's a good day to remember Dr. King's words regarding jazz.
