Today's Junkie Segment On TOTN: Remembering Ronald Reagan

Ronald Reagan would have turned 100 this coming Sunday.

Today's Political Junkie segment on NPR's Talk of the Nation remembers the 40th president: his strengths and faults, his record and rhetoric. And where would he have fit in today's political climate?

We have two guests to talk about him: Lou Cannon, who covered his years as governor and president, and Craig Shirley, author of "Reagan's Revolution: The Untold Story of the Campaign That Started It All."

Plus: The Democrats pick Charlotte for their 2012 convention ... the latest in the Chicago mayoral race ... Mike Pence is a no go for the White House but Jon Huntsman signals he might ... Montana Republicans get their dream candidate to run against Sen. Jon Tester next year, but Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown may face a Tea Party challenge ... and a special counsel is named to investigate Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.).

Last week's segment, which focused on reaction to the State of the Union message, can be heard here.

Join host Neal Conan and me every Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET for the Junkie segment on TOTN, where you can often, but not always, find interesting conversation, useless trivia questions and sparkling jokes. And you can win a Political Junkie T-shirt!

If your local NPR station doesn't carry TOTN, you can always hear the program on the Web or on HD Radio. And if you are a subscriber to XM/Sirius radio, you can find the show there as well (siriusly).
