Invitations to complete the 2020 Census start arriving in mailboxes today, but surveys show many people are still unclear about how they can fill it out or what the survey will ask.
From Pew Research Center:
“A majority incorrectly believes a citizenship question is on the questionnaire, and only about one-in-five know they will have the option of answering online.”
The census happens every ten years and it has massive implications for communities, like how much federal funding they receive and their representation in Congress. This year will be the first the bureau relies primarily on the internet to count everyone.
Will it work? How might concern over Coronavirus affect who participates?
